
Laurence A. Skerlong
Over the past twenty years he has assisted
client organizations, and individual senior level executives, in
the diagnosis of both organizational and individual performance problems
and in the creation and implementation of effective performance improvement
strategies.
In the area of executive coaching, Larry combines
his expertise in assessment, career management techniques and counseling
to help his clients maximize performance while achieving a high degree
of personal satisfaction. His career management clients include professionals
in a variety of disciplines ranging from individual contributors
to CEO’s.
Larry’s professional background includes
thirty years of experience in the areas of counseling, training design
and delivery, human resources management, consulting and business
operations. He began his career with the American Heart Association
where he designed and conducted public education programs. He later
served as the Director of a community development agency providing
consultation and training in the areas of community revitalization.
After earning a Masters degree in Counseling, Larry joined the staff
at Penn State University where he served as a counselor and academic
advisor.
As Vice President, Human Resources at Mellon
Bank Corporation, Larry served as the Director of Management Training
and, subsequently, as the Manager of Corporate Employment. He was
responsible for the creation, implementation and management of the
Bank’s performance management
system, served as a consultant to senior management
on a variety of human resource management issues including executive
development, coaching and EEO/AA, and managed a variety of special
projects involving mergers, acquisitions and corporate downsizings.
Larry served as the Senior Consultant for Drake Beam Morin and Manchester
International, two global human resource consulting firms, where he
consulted with corporations on various employee development initiatives
including corporate revitalization, directional counseling for executives,
and career transition counseling. He has also served as the Chief Operating
Officer for a major domestic career management firm and has owned and
operated a Pittsburgh based small manufacturing company.
He earned a BA in Sociology and MA in Counseling at Indiana University
of Pennsylvania and has completed additional graduate work in counseling
at Penn State University .
