
Gay M. Fogarty, Ph.D.
Gay Fogarty is an experienced coach, consultant
and trainer with a background in executive coaching, career
management and organization and leadership
development. Dr. Fogarty’s
work over the past eighteen years has been dedicated to helping individuals
and organizations realize their full potential. Her strong belief in
the worth of each individual and in their ability to make a substantial
contribution to other individuals and to the organizations that employ
them has been evident throughout her career in human resource development
and training. Gay’s proven ability to effectively assist individuals
and organizations in assessing, planning and
implementing change has gained her the reputation of being a coach
and consultant who helps others take action and achieve results. A
recent recipient of the Susan B. Anthony Women of Vision award, Dr.
Fogarty has been recognized by the professional community for her contributions
to other’s development.
Gay has worked with a broad range of executives in numerous industries
including financial services, healthcare, technology, pharmaceuticals,
chemicals, manufacturing, publications, communications, professional
services, consumer products and non-profits. She has conducted organizational
assessments and facilitated focus groups in response to major organizational
change. She has provided consulting and training for managers in group
facilitation, team building, performance management, succession planning
and high potential identification, meeting leadership and management,
communications and supervisory skills. Gay has designed and delivered
a wide variety of career management workshops and has made numerous
presentations to professional organizations, colleges and universities
on topics such as psychological contracts, executive coaching, managing
transitions, networking and leadership development.
She is the founder of the Fogarty Group, a virtual consulting firm
that specializes in leadership development and career coaching. Gay
has held a number of management positions with several international
career transition firms, most recently as Senior Vice President and
General Manager of the Pittsburgh Office of Manchester, Inc. She has
experience in both the start up of new businesses and the growth of
existing ones and had responsibility for executive coaching, career
transition, leadership development and change/career management services.
Previously, Dr. Fogarty worked in the financial services industry as
an Educational Director for Mellon Bank where she was responsible for
the creation and coordination of Master Trust University, a comprehensive
training program designed to increase productivity and professionalism.
Dr. Fogarty holds a B.A. in Psychology from
Dickinson College , a M.S.W. from the University of Pittsburgh and
a Ph.D. in Organization Development from Temple University . Her
doctoral dissertation defined the change in psychological contracts
between employers and managers following downsizing. She has received
certification as a leadership coach through Linkage’s Coaching for Leaders Program and Manchester ’s
Executive Coaching Program. Dr. Fogarty is a member of Marshall Goldsmith
Partners, LLC, a worldwide network of coaches, founded by Marshall
Goldsmtih, a renowned expert in the field of Executive Coaching. She
has been selected as a Coach to work with the participants of The New
Generation Leadership Summit, Carnegie Mellon University ’s Program
for Executives and. Pittsburgh CORO Women In
Leadership programs.
Gay’s commitment to professional development and community involvement
has led her to be a member of the International Coach Federation, American
Society of Training and Development, Pittsburgh Human Resources Planning
Society and Pittsburgh Human Resource Association. She has served on
the board of directors and as an officer of several community organizations
and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Greater Pennsylvania
Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
